SANTACO’s minibus taxi strike is keeping hundreds of thousands of children out of school

The department of Education in the provinve says SANTACO’s minibus taxi strike is keeping hundreds of thousands of children out of school. Over 850 000 learners did not go to school on Tuesday and 92 schools were closed due to safety concerns or low attendance. Provincial education MEC, David Maynier says children need to be in class learning and SANTACO is stopping this from happening. He says they simply cannot afford to compromise children’s futures by losing any more teaching and learning time in the province.
