Ten men
were handed hefty sentences by the Cape Town High Court on Friday on charges of
racketeering, money laundering, corruption and possession of abalone. Adam
Baadjies, Rudolf Andrew Louw, Alistair Hillmar Maans, Linda Nkeleni, John
Stephanus Karelse, Frederick Myburgh, Dennis Swart, Eugene Herandien, Richard
Malan and Steve Dlovo operated as a syndicate in Gansbaai area and were under
the Hawks radar for a period of time until they were apprehended in 2018. After
their arrest they made several court appearances and were eventually granted
bail until their sentencing on 11 August 2023.
